Wound up in Wexford

Grannagh Castle

I spent some time in the morning in the garden - some weeding, some pruning.

Meanwhile, W had a hair cut.

I spent a short while in the sewing room cutting out and arranging the pieces for the next block, and then did some fluting whilst W did some more tidying and planting in the garden.

Then we went out.  Early dinner at The Thatch Cottage Cafe - a pretty standard Irish menu, nicely cooked and lovely surroundings.  Afterwards we crossed the road to take in the view of this castle - sadly it's in private hands, and although it appears there is sometimes access, today the gate was shut and padlocked.

There was also an excellent view of the Thomas Francis Meagher Bridge over the river Suir.

Grannagh seems to be also known as Granny, and when we set off to find our way into Waterford we passed a sign to "Granny Recycling" .... only in Ireland!

In the evening, we went to a concert - part of the Waterford Music series, it was an interesting trio - Uilleann Pipes, Baroque violin, and Flamenco guitar.  I think I would have appreciated the music more if I was better able to understand traditional Irish music.

It's raining this evening, but the forecast is for more lovely weather.
