Fireside
Over 10 years ago a wonderful tradition began in my small town. Having no pub, a good mate decided to open up his back yard and invite all neighbours at 5 pm every Saturday evening to come and share a drink.
So began the Saturday fireside drink... between 3 and 10 neighbours turn up every Saturday, the ages of attendees varies bewteen 30 and 80 , this picture could be any given Saturday.
It's not a booze up, it's all over by 7pm, but those 2 hours are absolute escapism.
Dale on the left is from Leicester , Phil on the right is from Byron, born in different parts of the world, but totally bonded as neighbours of our community village.
Fire, steel shed, water tanks, beers, gum trees .. it's purely iconic, there's no pretence.. I had to argue hard even to allow the tripod and camera in tonight.. it's a wonderfully private ritual.
