The Phoenix

This bronze monument is in Downtown Atlanta. It is called 'Atlanta from the Ashes' but more commonly known as The Phoenix. It symbolises Atlanta's rise from the ashes of the Civil War to become a world city. It depicts a woman being lifted from the flames by a phoenix - referring to the phoenix in Greco-Roman mythology.
