Back home!
Back blipping as we have had a few busy and difficult days.
My sister and I had been staying at our Mother's home in Hertfordshire, sorting out things there. But today I was phoned at 6.30am by my Mother's care home, to tell me she had fallen out of bed during the night, was rather breathless, and they had called paramedics. This was followed by a further call to say they wanted her to go to hospital as her oxygen sat levels were worryingly low. My sister and I reluctantly agreed. The good news was that she was to be admitted straight to an acute medical ward, escorted by one of her regular carers.
C and I then had to pack up quickly and head back to Winchester. We relieved our Mum's escort at the hospital at about 2pm. Our Mother was already on oxygen and I/V antibiotics, and soon went off for xrays and scans. A fractured collarbone and pneumonia were confirmed.
By the time we left her in the early evening, despite our initial qualms over her hospital admission, we felt she had received very prompt and necessary assessment and treatment.
This picture is of a Pulsatilla in my garden.
