Failing to take the pills from the Pill Box

I was on my bicycle this morning. Seconds before I took this picture a polecat popped out from the hedgerow. We were both equally surprised to see each other! It had long gone before I could get my camera out.

This "Pill Box" was built as part of the defence of Jurby Aerodrome in world war 2. I just wonder how people would have been thinking, seventy five years ago, when they saw this being built.

It was well positioned and with an excellent field of fire over the lower countryside.

I shortly wizzed down the hill on my bicycle on to the lower ground.

The hill in the centre of the shot is Snaefell, the highest hill in the Island.
