Magic Head Skritches for LGK
My husband and I do not currently have a cat of our own. However, we love cats and so we play with cats and pet cats and snorgle cats every chance we get. I believe we're lucky: we get one as a visitor quite frequently.
Stryker, the little gray kitty (LGK), lives a couple of houses down from us. Some days, he shows up at our house around dawn and stays until long after dark, occasionally taking a break to walk home for a snack (unless he catches, kills, and eats his own snack on the front porch - ew!). If you want my honest opinion, NOT having a cat for these past few years? It's been quite a lot like HAVING a cat.
On this day, I got back from my bike ride to discover this amiable pair sitting quite happily together on a chair on the front porch. There was my husband, holding LGK, and giving him much coveted head and nose skritches. My husband was using his trademark Flying Finger Method (TM) that all of the kitties crave - and some of the ladies, too, or so I hear (TMI).
So you know what I did. I walked quietly up the front steps with my camera, taking about two dozen photos of what appeared to be absolute bliss. At one point, the hand seemed to take on a life all of its own, not unlike Thing in the Addams Family. LGK was sort of leaning into it - more, more, MORE! - and he looked absolutely heartbroken when the hand was removed.
Okay, just a few more skritches, then!
Our soundtrack song is Rod Stewart, with Love Touch, from the Robert Redford/Debra Winger/Daryl Hannah flick, Legal Eagles.
