Roadford lake 6k
Early start to walk the dogs before getting to this race. Unfortunately not canicross but a good stepping stone towards my 10k at Easter.
I was all packed with the dogs, treats etc so I could go straight to dog training after the race.
It was a gorgeous morning with the sun shining and a gentle breeze. I found myself at the front at the start, as no one would move forward. There were 3 length races the 6k, 11k and half marathon, so it was difficult to know where you were in your race.
I was just over half way in the woodland and thinking perhaps my choice of road shoes over trail shoes was a bad idea when I hit the deck. I was surprised how many runners ran by before 2 men stopped and asked if I was ok. Once I got myself up, realised my knees were ok and the blood was from a little nick under my chin. I found a tissue and started to run again.
You can imagine my surprise when I got to the finish and was presented with the first lady trophy (I was 3rd overall behind 2 men).
I got in the van set to go training, but a couple of miles down the road (as the high from running wore off) my knees, jaw and left wrist really started to hurt. I pulled over to text and say I wouldn't make training was going home to shower, check my injuries and take some painkillers. I'm sure I will heal in a day or two
