Cidade de Maputo
Maputo City.
My old street retains its interesting blend of tumbledown and modern. A new bookstore and pharmacy have sprung up among the piles of trash on the street. My old building guard Mizé was out front when I passed and we sat on the wall drinking a soda whilst I heard the latest neighbourhood gossip. I have a great fondness for this place and when I’m in a good headspace (i.e. keeping work burnout at bay), such as today, I dive into sentimentality.
I walked onward to Jardim Tunduru, which was busy with wedding parties, groups huddled around laptops working on projects, school kids on outings, and other assorted visitors. A friendly chap came over wanting to discuss the bible he thought I was communing with. He was disappointed when he found out it was just a regular book.
This was a wonderful chilled Saturday of enjoying Maputo’s vibe.
