Knots
I used to fear French Knots, now they are no problem, I love them.
Is that because I have always thought of embroidery as having to be ‘right’ and it is only now when I am working in a much freer way that I am gaining the skills I was afraid of getting ‘wrong’ in the past. There are lessons there for the way children learn. If they are always afraid of getting things ‘wrong’ they won’t gain the confidence they need to learn.
The cue this week was to create a lumpy patch with lots of knots. Each week I am selecting a scrap of fabric from the stash of beautiful furnishing fabric remnants that my sister-in-law gave me ages ago. Then I try to use the design to fulfil the given brief. I will probably add to this, but for the moment it’s okay.
