Silly Saturday (Night) - Aurora Borealis...

...kept me awake this night... According to Aurora notifications there should be good chances to take photos this night, the only problem was the weather forecast indicating snowfall later during the night (thanks to somebody, no snow...!). The half moon gave good light in the darkness when I changed the place a few times. And the best thing: I had the tripod with me this time! (Unfortunately, no tripod two weeks ago.)

This "silly" blip history is of course in memory of admirer who was such an enthusiastic hoster so long time and also very enthusiastic about all our silly entries!

The main blip is taken at 03:03 AM and the extra blips as follows:
The first photo session was between 00:34 and 00:59 (the collage picture), the second one between 01:49 and 01:59 (next two photos), the third one between 02:27 and 03:03 (all the following photos except the last collage) and the last session 03:18 and 03:27.

It can be hard to be an Aurora photographer... In fact, I was  going to bed after the first Aurora period. When the lights disappeared I believed there would not be any more, but Aurora notifications were indicating good chances so I looked out now and then. Just before 02:00 AM when I had decided to give up - suddenly the Northern Lights were there again! However, clouds were coming at the same time when I was taking photos so I did not think there could be any more chances. I prepared to go to bed - took the last glance out - now the clouds had gone and the Aurora lights were there again - better than before! I decided to wake my husband up because he has never seen the Northern Lights, what a mistake it would be to miss this opportunity! The last pictures (collage) were taken when the Aurora was fading away....

The most strange thing this night were pulsating arcs late during the third session, they were thin and white, coming very regularly and fast from the north and spreading all over the sky above us. Such a special experience, but impossible to catch in a photo...
