Blending In

If it were not for their size and perhaps the red crown of their plumage, I might not have seen the pair of sandhill cranes, which blended in with the dried vegetation of the wetland perfectly.

Periodically, their trumpeting call was echoed by others in the distance. Later I saw another group of four feeding out in the prairie.

I also saw the striking black and white of a small merganser, but my photo of it was not post worthy.
