At Haworth (International) Station

Although Haworth, being the home of the world famous authors, the Bronte sisters, attracts many international visitors, the two ladies in colourful attire at Haworth Station on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway are most probably not tourists, but part of the local population. Here in Keighley we have a large population of first, second and even third generation immigrants who still prefer to wear their traditional garments rather than western wear, adding to the diversity and colour of the area.
The steam engine on the line today was the big 90733, which I photographed last Sunday 04 August. Today it carried a garland of flowers, actually a wreath of flowers, on the front of the engine in honour of a volunteer who had ‘transferred to top shed’ (passed away) during the week, a very touching tribute accorded to all volunteers in similar circumstances.
