Ash Broccoli?
These are the male flowers of the European Ash, but one of our little group thought they looked like Broccoli.
We took our son Nat's future M-i-L for a walk at Settle in N Yorkshire. And I had to stop at this tree covered in Ash Broccoli. When I got home I did some research and could bore you with lots of facts about this tree species. I will give you just two.
The Latin name is Fraxinus excelsior,which doesn't undersell it.
If you plant the green under-ripe Ash keys they will germinate straightaway. The dried, mature brown seeds won't germinate for about 18 months or two winters.
I thought I would add an extra of two beautiful spring flowers.
