Nettle soup day

Normally I like to make nettle soup at Easter weekend but it’s so late this year that the nettles will have got too big and stringy.  So, home alone, I made it today.

Gorgeous sunny weather, following on from the driest March in decades and reminiscent of lockdown spring.   I walked Woody first thing and then worked on the garden all morning before making the soup.  Fewer pots this year I think.  I managed to pick a few desultory tulips from the raised bed, all re-emerging as I haven’t planted any this year as the deer ate them all last year. Still they have given me one beautiful show in the tulipiere.  Extra!

After lunch I went to the garden centre to pick up a few herbs to redo the dead herb bed, I cut back a lot and watered well.  Note to self, wallflowers that I left over rather than ripping them out as per usual have come back huge and floriferous.  Not just biennial after all.

Vikram and John have managed to get to Santiago on their walk.  They aren’t doing the full Camino, coming up from the south on a shorter route but it’s been a bit of a struggle at times so we’re all glad they made it!  Bravo Vik!

In the evening I watched the missing White Lotus that V watched before he went so we’ll be synched up when he gets back.
