The proper use of a Sauce Pan

Well I was supposed to work today but as the economy slows, 2 of us drivers got the day off instead. One of the reason I still work here is I was offered a 1000 mile run - sleeper truck and overnight of course - however, I also have the right to say no.

Today they were testing the smoke alarm for their once a year certification. Grateful to be here as every time it went off, Tiger went postal. With the extra time I cleaned out a drawer that was stuffed with 20 years of odds and ends of paperwork.. I didn't want to go through it before the move but I knew I had to sometime. Great to get that done.

I also played with my amateur handheld radio. This one is a treasure as I won it up in Alaska at a hamfest and it was one of last major trips I took with both parents . I wish I had a larger piece of metal to put it on but us Hams make do with what we have. This is an adjustable antenna - full wave on 440, 3/4 wave on 220 and 1/2 wave on 146. With my apartment facing north, I can't hit most of the repeaters that I used to especially with just 5 watts however, I was able to hear new to me repeaters including one 40 miles away (no chance to use with indoor antenna and low power) and so today I started to listen around. Although I was only able to bring up 2 repeaters today - with time I will learn which others will work. Still a lot of fun playing...

Hopefully no work issues tomorrow...
