A little methodology
Today I tested out a photographic methodology, designed to help you consider more about what you are going to photograph, before you press the shutter. The Methodology is called SHOWeD, in brief it is. Each area will guide your considered thought process:
S what do you SEE here?
H what is HAPPENING?
O how does this relate to OUR lives?
W WHY does this condition exist?
E how can we EDUCATE others?
D what can we DO about it?
It's a great way to make sure each photograph receives thought in its meaning. So what about this image, what do I see? The name of the road obviously, the etched text on the window provides another bit of information. What's happening with those rings on the wall and the upright stone at the corner? Does it relate to our lives? Not now! Why are these features there in the first place?
Well some research will reveal that a railway line was nearby but is now long gone. The building is a pub, but was once a hotel. The rings are for tying your horse to and the stone is a mounting stone. So the elements in the photo provide quite a bit of information, it's even educational.
I hope you find this useful.
