Another day of things getting put back in order

Awoken by a phone call from Mitch, who was on his way round with croissants and muffins, so despite the fact that I wasn’t ready to stir myself, I did – albeit grumpily – and showered before his arrival. The things you do for friends. Had a lovely visit, even though I didn’t have any of the goodies he brought, and once he had left, and the other two Ottawackers had departed on their various trips on buses, I got down to a bit of work. That, too, was soon interrupted, as Colin came over to see what he could do about the second laptop. While not the craptop, it has never seemed to work, hanging up on the modem as soon as the wifi kicks in. I got it as a replacement for the one he fixed yesterday – it had remained in its box for the longest time while Mrs. Ottawacker was supposed to call her brother to have a look at it. By the time we needed it, it was out of its 12-month warranty, and I just wrote it off as a piece of entitled Ottawacker stupidity. Subsequent phone conversations with Mrs. Ottawacker’s brother revealed there was little to be done. But Colin, well, Colin has magic in his fingers. One hour later, everything was repaired. Not to put too fine a point on it, all he had to do was reboot the modem in the basement. So, we now have more computers in the house than we know what to do with. It’s way too good to last.

Ottawacker Jr. went to another of his club’s assessments in the afternoon – I think that was the final one for the summer season. I decided to cook a roast beef because, well, who needs to work and the masses were clamouring. So, we had a roast dinner, then settled down to a movie. They are threatening another winter storm in the week. I am not impressed. It’s almost July, FFS.
