Back to normal

Following being on the high seas for ten days, it was nice to get my 10k plus steps on ‘terra firma’, with a walk by the riverside.

The riverside was looking especially lovely, with bluebells and daffodils amongst a profusion of wild garlic and leeks, however, it was the the purple toothwort patches that stood out for me.

Purple toothwort, Lathraea clandestina, grows in carpets of glossy, leafless flowers that appear in early spring. The plant is a parasite that has no photosynthetic parts and the richness of this display is afforded entirely from the resources of the host plant on which the toothwort feeds.

In other news, the thermostat on the shower has packed up, but luckily Gordon the plumber is on his way to replace it today … phew.

Millie the cat has obviously missed us, as she will not leave us alone for one minute … she is currently sitting on my chest as I type this (not easy).

Anyway, glad to be home and enjoying the beautiful weather, which I hope is the same with you.
