Sanctuary
I was awake a little earlier than I would have liked, but it is hard to complain when being awoken by the sunlight streaming in and birdsong in stereo.
We had a lazy start and then headed out to the Seal Sanctuary near Mablethorpe. I was pleasantly surprised when we got there as it actually turned out to be a small wildlife oasis, so we saw loads of other animals too. Personally, I could have watched the otters playing all day, but the wee ones were enamoured of the seals, some of which were blind, hence their presence at the sanctuary.
We had a van picnic and then headed down to the beautiful sandy beach neighbouring the sanctuary and knocked the tennis ball about with the cricket bat for a while. Despite a bit of wind chill, it was absolutely glorious.
A potter along the coast to Mablethorpe itself followed and because we were by the sea and it is the law, so did a round of ice creams.
By that point we were flagging and so headed back to the lodge for a dip in the hot tub and an evening of pizzas, treats and boardgames.
Could definitely get used to this holiday stuff!
