Tasty dinner

It’s been a productive day (though not in the codeine side effect department!)

I walked to Shona for a lift to book group where we discussed The Summer Book by Tove Janssen. We were divided in our reactions to it.

On my return I went through a box of stuff given by brother-in-law yesterday. He said it was stuff relating more to our family than his that had belonged to Mr C’s mother. Turns out it was albums of photos of him, his wife (Mr C’s sister)and children as well as letters they’d written to Mr C’s mum. (We had gone through all her stuff after her death 10 years ago and passed on anything to do with Mr C’s sister’s family to them. B-I-L says he must have got mixed up somehow).

I sent an email to the Ednam House saying that the location and staff were lovely but how disappointing the lasagne was with the raw onion and pepper and that he should ensure the kitchen staff was properly trained. I explained that I hadn’t mentioned it at the time as it wasn’t appropriate when I was a guest of the bereaved host. He wrote back to say everyone had cleared their plates, the host had given a generous gratuity and he was passing on my email to her. Imagine doing something so hurtful to her. What can his motive be I wonder. I’m definitely not going back!!

Then I worked on my Rotterdam book before cooking this meal. It was from a Guardian Feast a few weeks ago and was very tasty. And quite easy to make.
