Bus Pass Walk

Backblip for Tuesday 1 April. Thought I had already posted this and then found it was missing - guess the April Fool's joke was on me! Caught 3 buses to Crosshills and alighted at the roundabout to defy death by crossing the the bypass! Up a steep stoney path onto the canal towpath and a short walk past the lovely church to the canal side cafe at Kildwick. Returning to the towpath there were barriers banning cyclists due to rough hardcore being used for towpath improvements. Spoke to several workers along the way - most were enjoying working in such a lovely environment. They never mentioned that as we neared Silsden the towpath was fully closed! A young worker pointed out an alternative route, and despite a couple of unexpected hills across farmland we ended up at the back of Silsden and found our way to another cafe for lunch - phew! We then wandered back to the bottom of town and caught 3 more buses back to our village. A slightly elongated walk, but K and I managed it. Lovely sunshine made the day! Photo is of the boat being used to carry the hardcore to each point where it was needed - looking at the angle, it seems to have been overloaded at some point!
