Male Red-winged Blackbird

 It was a rare occurrence for me to see this particular kind of bird on a log near the water, which provided lovely clean background.   Instead, I have always seen them of hanging on a reed with a mass of other reeds surrounding.

It was the quietest morning Wendy and I have ever had at Huntley Meadows.  It was very, very cold. We were bundled up in winter attire right down to the long johns. This winter seems like it will never end....and we are three weeks into spring!
