The Fragrance of Skunk....

....was lingering on the breeze at the Tualatin Hills Nature Center this morning. I was out for a nice, long walk on this gorgeous spring day. I'd been looking for skunk cabbage in the boggy areas of this lovely park, but hadn't seen any during my recent rambles. The "fragrance" was unmistakable, and there they were....not blooming yet, but big, verdant and lush green leaves popping up everywhere, and finally I spotted a bud. Unfortunately I was on a wooden walkway over the bog and couldn't get very close...I wish I could watch this open!

In the extras, Trillium and our native Violet glabella or Stream Violet.
