Drama at Boxer's Lake

I pottered over to Boxer's Lake to check on the herons but they were overtaken by a sad egg and a petulant greylag goose.  As l arrived l first noticed a large  egg sitting on the dirt by itself,  two geese came up to it but were the chased noisily away by the greylag goose who looked at it and then walked off leaving the egg alone.  I am not sure why the egg was there but found another one on the grass about 100 metres away.  Perhaps they were disturbed by kids or another animal.
