Alphabet Challenge EntryWhat a view!! This is from a place called Castle in the Clouds (also called Lucknow Castle) in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. It was built by a fellow named Tom Plant for his new bride in 1921. Mr. Plant was a shoe manufacturer with the largest factory in the world in the 1920's located in Boston. His marriage didn't last, but he was very generous and purchased an $11,000,000 home for her on Boston's south shore on the ocean (Lucky her). Through a series of philanthropic moves and bad investments he lost his entire fortune and tried to sell the home, but to no avail.

The home was auctioned off to pay his creditors but he was allowed to live there until his death in 1941. Poor second wife had to leave at that time too. It has been open to the public since 1956. The property is now owned by the Lakes Region Conservation Trust and has been undergoing extensive renovations for the past 6 years.

It was a great afternoon with Katie from my July 14th blip (the tree and birds tattoo) We had lunch on a terrace overlooking this view.
