That Will Do!

All Is Revealed

I've been fascinated by cyanotype ever since a summer fete when a talented crafter explained the process so I've been waiting for the opportunity to try it.

Flumlet-minding during the holidays gave the perfect excuse. A kit was purchased and today we tried it out. The process involves placing an object on photo-sensitive paper, exposing this to sunlight, removing the object before washing and drying the paper.

Main photo is of our two experiments - right, a piece of cupressus, left a scattering of dandelion petals (we had cut the stalk too close and the flower fell to pieces but liked the way they fell).

We had selected a variety of items but used only these as, besides checking out our rescued tadpoles, he had two hours of school work to complete and was keen to play on his tablet (see extra for an enterprising method of shading the screen).

We still have the tie-dyeing project to finish off so I hope next week will be as much fun as this - but we will need sunshine again.
