I promised to post a picture of the rescued eryngium and here it is. This blip showed the plant just before it went it to the soil.

The plant is about 1.5 meters tall and has produced a mass of flowers which are colouring up nicely.

If you think a plant has died and you have the space it is always worth giving a plant one more season, you never know what you may be rewarded with.
