Placeholder

I used to be more diligent about trying to take an excellent picture every day but now I am willing to just go with a “placeholder” on some days. It’s been a quiet day here - mom and I have bullied dad into taking it very easy and resting his sprained ankles. I am planning to go out and pick up something for dinner for tonight.

Mom and I were outside the condo admiring some of the flowering trees (like this one) when we noticed two little bushtits fluttering around in the tree. On closer inspection, we spotted their nest which is a hanging basket constructed of lichen, moss, spiderwebs and small bits of vegetation. Both adults were working on it, entering a small opening at the top and then pushing around inside making the nest appear to be some sort of living creature wiggling around. I will try to get a photo tomorrow if I can. It’s really an elaborate structure to be built by such a tiny bird!
