The Cellist
Blackheath is fortunate in having a community hall, the focal point for many activities. The hall was in dire need of renovation and refurbishment, and to this end it has been closed for 9 months.
The efforts of many townsfolk have resulted in a splendid new venue with many improvements, including state of the art heating.
Last night saw a very welcome 'Welcome Back to the Hall' event, the highlight of which was a performance by the very talented local group, Altitude Ensemble. The cellist in the main blip is Deborah Coogan.
The extra is a photo of the daughter of the driving force behind the original hall, Sandy Phillips, unveiling his photo. She is being assisted by her granddaughter.
The Phillips Hall is named in his honour.
