Stone Mountain
Today we went to Stone Mountain which is east of Atlanta. It sits in a wonderful park with lakes, campground, trails, a train which runs around the base of the Mountain and a cable car which takes you to the top.
We took the cable car up and walked down. It was steep descent- very steep in parts.
My blip shows the Confederate Memorial Carving of President Jefferson Davis, and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. 'Stonewall' Jackson. It is a massive sculpture 190 feet wide and 90 feet tall and is recessed 42 feet into the mountain and stands 400 feet above the ground. It is roughly three acres - larger than Mount Rushmore.
The Extras show the carving on the way up in the cable car and a very steep part of our descent.
