twinned with trumpton

The assault on the remaining Munros continues....

Despite a migraine on Thursday evening, I managed to get myself up at 5; cobble together a couple of cheese and pickle sandwiches and stoat acroos the road to pick up the wheels and head off.

I'd orginally intended to right the wrong of 2009 and nab Glen Affric's Ben Fhiondlaidh but after the migraine I opted for an easier on so instead pointed myself in a Kintail kind of a direction and headed for A Ghlass Bheinn.

An easy enough drive with a couple of dog stops; we exited Morvich after 10 and retraced the steps of last year when we tackled Bheinn Fhada.

Met and spoke to a couple of folks on the road; traded tales to make the first couple of miles disappear but inevitable my long legs carried me off and away into the bealach and into the distance.

The sun first appeared as the serious business of the climb from the bealach started; it's a bit of a slog; and for a first outing I think I did OK.

A hazy day; plenty views but not pin sharp; but still much to admire as Loki and lunched on the summit.

I CBA with retracing my steps and I didn't really fancy taking in the Falls of Glomach (I've a nasty corn on the sole of my left foot which meant descending was a problem so instead opted for a more direct route.)

Unfortunately I misjudged it slightly - there's two massive ravines thagt face you as you approch the hill from Morvich; I need to be on the north side of them both but instead ened up in the middle so as I decended I was funneled into a specific bit - and straight into mature spruce forest. Had I gone to the north, I'd have come out at the top of the forest, so there was nowt to do but bash straight through!!
Loki loved it; me not so much. (I still bear the scars and scrapes of the branches.

We popped out onto a forestry track and then I managed to miss the turning to cross the river, so ended up with an added mile having to eventually loop back past the caravan site.

As Loki spread out across the back seat, I stuck the car into gear and off we went; stops at Bruar for Loki to run about and Perth for supplies.

I conveniently made it back in time to grab Her and Her lass from the WGH where they'd dropped into have the lass's thumb looked at (work related injury - it's not broken)

Then - finally - home.
