Amateur Theatre

Many villages in Bavaria have amateur theatre clubs that put on an annual production each autumn/winter/spring which are often held in the local 'pub'. Gasthaus. Many of the village pubs are very large, more restaurants and have a large meeting room, often on the first floor.

During these 'Volkstheater', one sits at tables and chairs and drinks are served. Often one would have eaten a hot meal before it started.
