St Mary The Virgin Church, Enville

I was at Enville yesterday for the monthly classic car meeting, REVS Enville.

It is held in the grounds of St Mary The Virgin Church in the village of Enville, located not far from Stourbridge.

The car park is small and the burial ground is utilised as an overflow car park if there is a good turnout. It results in dozens of cars being haphazardly parked near to and around gravestones. It is done in a way that does not damage the stones or the ground but I still feel uncomfortable with it. The vicar loves it, he welcomes all visitors and it brings in much needed funds for the church maintenance.

The wonderfully elaborate church building is mainly 19th century but there has been a site of worship here since around 1100AD. Some parts of the church do date back to the 13th and 14th century. It is a beautiful building inside and out. I intend to revisit to explore more thoroughly, when it is not so busy.
