Pink Moon
The moon was at its fullest at 01:22 this morning.
I was awake at this time but several minutes had elapsed by the time I stumbled out the door to see it, hoping to see a Pink Moon.
This photograph, taken, at 1:53 and hand held (I should have set up the tripod the night before) shows no signs of pink.
My research now shows that the “pink” name is a nod to the arrival of blooming flowers at the beginning of spring. Specifically, the hot pink wildflower Phlox subulata. (From cnn.com)
It is also the Paschal moon which sets the date of Easter.
Now back to sleep.
