Just Missed Tea Time …

… for this Red Kite, she/he seems to have finished whatever she/he was eating. I’d gone down to the orchid area to see what else had appeared after last night’s rain so was lucky to have put my 300mm lens in my bag.

Information from the Swiss Ornithological Institute… “The Red Kite is the third largest native raptor after the Bearded Vulture and the Golden Eagle. It can circle for hours on narrow, long wings, constantly twisting its long forked tail. During the courtship period, the pairs carry out real acrobatics and often emit a shrill mewing sound. In our country, the Red Kite has spread noticeably during the last decades. The Swiss breeding population is increasingly gaining international importance, because populations in other regions in Europe are declining.”

(I am shocked at how weak I feel even though the all swelling has gone down on my arm and hand, I feel like I have a bad dose of flu! 15 mins outside and I had to come home.)
