Finally Finishing Ephesians!
We gathered at FBC this morning to lift thankful hearts and offer up praise and worship to God for all the blessings He has given us----the beautiful blue skies, the gusting wind that could mess with your neatly combed hair or blow your hat off, the glimmer of hope for rain in the future that we prayed would not happen on Saturday or Sunday! Today is Palm Sunday, when we remember and celebrate Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem in fulfillment of prophecy about the coming of the Messiah as people greeted him waving palm branches and shouting "Hosanna!",so we began our service by lifting our voices as a choir and congregation, accompanied by the orchestra and all our talented accompanists to sing those very same words. That song was followed by the welcome from Pastor Wes, after which the choir, orchestra along with our dedicated accompanists presented a joyful anthem entitled "In The Name Of The Lord". The congregation sang a few more songs, including one that has been a favorite of mine since I first started singing as a child, "The Old Rugged Cross". Then, Pastor Wes took us into Ephesians 6:21-24 for the final sermon in his series on this letter Paul wrote inspired by the Holy Spirit to the church at Ephesus. In it, he told them that he desired to proclaim the message of the gospel boldly, clearly, courageously as an ambassador of Jesus Christ. We are also ambassadors for Christ if we have been saved by grace through faith. Paul asked the church to pray for him, that he would have the right words at the proper time, so that the Holy Spirit could do the work of convicting the sinner's heart of his need for Jesus and we should do likewise. Prayer is the first and most important thing we should do. We are tasked with sharing the good news of Jesus with those around us in our daily lives and we should begin our mission with prayer for open doors and open hearts. Pastor Wes had more to say about all this and you can find it all on the live-stream. It would be a good investment of your time.....
