Red Head

I walked to the local medical centre this morning to get a shot of the flu vaccine. We are warned that flu may arrive early this year and be especially virulent. Perhaps we are told that every year.

On the walk home I photographed this red powder-puff-like flower poking through a fence. Google Lens tells me it is Calliandra haematocephala, commonly called  Red Powder Puff Flower!

I'm also told that it is native to Central America. I'm amazed at the number of plants I photograph around Brisbane that are native to Central America. I've not (yet) been there.
