1935: Black Sunday dust storm strikes
Quote Of The Day
"It was as thoughthe sky was divided into two opposite worlds. On the south there was blue sky, golden sunlight and tranquility; on the north, there was a menacing curtain of boiling black dust that appeared to reach a thousand or more feet into the air."
(Pauline Winkler Grey, Kansas Historical Society )
A beautiful day with lots of fun at school, starting off with an Easter Week Assembly and the joy of seeing the first Easter dioramas coming in for display. Come late afternoon, the weather turned slightly colder and the clouds rolled over. By 17:00 the wind and rain started. I have a feeling there will not be much blossom left by tomorrow.
ADDENDUM
I have ammended what I had previously written here in light of Sara Evans pointing out a huge mistake I had made regarding what I thought was a lack of media coverage of six B-2 bombers being deployed on the island of Diego Garcia in preparation for an (imminent?) attack on Iran. Apparently, this story has been covered quite extensively in the press.
