Sunday Stroll

After taking the dogs to the woods, we stopped to watch this heron (Ardea cinerea) taking a stroll in the loch. You realise how big they are. They can stand about 1m tall, be up to 1m in length and their wing span between 1.5 and 2m. There is a heronry in the trees near the loch and there always seems to be a heron or two in the loch - noisy at times 'fraaank!'
