MonoMonday: The Built Environment
This is the formerly quaint and picturesque village of Medlow Bath, just up the road from us in the Blue Mountains.
Over the past few years it has been destroyed with the construction of a 4 lane highway for about 750 metres and a monstrous overheard walkway and lift to connect the railway station on one side of the highway with the Hydro Majestic Hotel on the other. There isn't much else in Medlow apart from a car dealer whose clients probably don't travel by train, and a petrol station.
This is to cope with weekend traffic which can be horrendous but the trouble is on either side of Medlow the highway reverts to 2 lanes! So now we will have two bottlenecks instead of one.
And IMHO, considering there is generally only one passenger train an hour each way, maybe a simple pedestrian crossing would have sufficed. After all have 3 on the same highway in Blackheath.
So that's my infrastructure grumble of the week and my contribution to steveng's challenge.
We made our annual visit to the accountant at Nowra this morning followed by lunch with him and now in Sydney for a medical appointment tomorrow.
