A work of art!
This is a huge mural in the Crowne Plaza Hotel where I was treated to lunch today!
It includes the Lusitania, the Queen Elizabeth, the QE2, the Waverley, the Govan Ferry, the Columba, the Forager steam tug, the Rainbow schooner, the Queen Mother and King George, the Queen and Prince Philip and Robert Napier (shipbuilder). It also depicts scenes of welding, propellor hoisting and a crowd scene modelled on hotel staff of the past, some of whom our waitress could recognise! The staff were friendly and helpful and when one of the waiters saw me photographing it he came over with an information sheet.
It's not a great photo but the mural is worth a look - it was painted by one man over a period of only about two months! When the hotel was refurbished there was a proposal to paint over it but thankfully the idea was dropped!
