Wild Garlic and Vermeer

Passing by the wild garlic in the local woods was a small encounter with nature on an otherwise cold, and generally rather grey day.
YouTube today provided another type of encounter. This time with characters and scenes painted by the Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer. The video shows his complete body of paintings which I found totally absorbing. Faced with a gallery of paintings it can often be better to focus on one or two selected works to enjoy a meaningful experience. With Vermeer the three dozen paintings attributed to him seem to share a common narrative which develops and becomes more intense as you view each one.
