A street effort

Our road became a series of potholes, made worse by the extensive amount of rain we have had this year, which was also added to by certain of our neighbours backwashing their pools out onto the tar.

We tried all the “formal” routes to get the road fixed and eventually went rogue and gathered the funds to get it fixed privately. We had some worrisome folk saying we could be fined as it should be the local authorities only that do this sort of work, but given the state of the city we threw caution to the wind and erred on the side of our vehicles, tyres, and avoiding insurance claims.

It was also great to see neighbours pulling together to get a significant irritation sorted out.
