Saffron

This is my annual saffron harvest. I can see why it is so expensive to buy, takes ages to get these few threads separated from the flowers. It grows in the autumn but isn’t the usual autumn crocus (colchium) which is poisonous. It is part of the iris family (Iridaceae)

I did some batch cooking today and a load of washing. I find cooking down the list of things I love, but we have to eat.
