Harvest time

The harvest is progressing - most of the fields around the village have wheat this year, with a few oilseed rape or barley. A few fields, like this one, have been cut already, but the weather looks a bit threatening.

Went to the Rippingale Allotments open day today. Hubby and I were among the 5 original allotmenteers who persuaded the parish council to let the village have some allotment land. Unfortunately we had to give up our own allotment after about 4 years because Mum became too ill to be left alone. However the allotments have gone from strength to strength. More land has been allowed to the group and there is now a longish waiting list. It was very nice to see what they have achieved now.
