I'd forgotten what
a racket a freight train kicks
up - how do they sleep?

I had myself out the door at 6. I have services arriving at my house this morning and I must be ready for them by 8.
I drove down the hill and made the turn to Westmount along the North Thompson River. I left my car beside the little park to walk up onto the Rivers Trail. Reflections on the river were lovely this morning in front of the railway bridge..
I walked a short distance on the trail and under the trestle to get a shot of the Halston Bridge and my mountains. The Canadian National freight train cruised up to the railway bridge and moved across to the terminal.
I really don't like walking under the railway when the train is on it. "Heavy, heavy hangs over they head..." I waited for it to move off the bridge but it slowed to a stop, then shunted with loud bangs and crashes. I was thinking of those in the neighbourhood before 7 AM who weren't awake yet. They would be now!
When the train came to a stop, I walked back under the trestle and headed for home.
It will be a busy morning with a new hot water tank being installed and my internet provider trying to figure out why the wifi keeps cutting out.
