Starling on tv aerial

It’s been lovely to see the starlings return to the garden over the past week or so, not so many as usual sadly. I normally only see them around here in the breeding season and they demolish the fatballs that I put out for the smaller birds pretty quickly, I don’t mind though.
I heard recently that the huge decline in bird numbers is partly due to the use of flea treatments on household pets. Research has shown that nests containing animal fur collected by the birds, are contaminated by the chemicals and can result in dead chicks or eggs that do not hatch, it’s very sad to think that the fur I used to put out in the garden from Leela and my previous cats may have contributed to the decline of my garden birds.
