Breaking out

One of my closest friend’s brother has died at his home in Lanzarote and funeral held two days later.  Another friend, who used to holiday with us in Mijas, lost her husband at the beginning of the month and the funeral isn’t until the 29th.  

For several months I, and another old work colleague have been trying to persuade a mutual friend to come out for coffee.  We used to meet up on an irregular basis for several years, but S has gone to ground.  This morning I went to M&S to pick up a few special bits for Easter Sunday and saw her arrive into the store just as I was at the checkout.  I managed to have a few words with her but was very shocked by her appearance.  She was always well turned out, but not today and she seemed very depressed.  I don’t know what to do without causing her distress.

This afternoon I’ve been up the road to my closest friends for afternoon tea and was hoping she’d cheer me up.  Unfortunately she has recently had a third severe attack of vertigo, similar to the one I had in early December and needed someone to talk to.  She has seen a doctor and all seems fine, but that’s not very reassuring,

It’s been one of those days.
