The Emperor's Pine (Hameenlinna)
A Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) with Kirsi standing in for scale.
This is a biggie, double trunk and the branches all cascading around like a giant umbrella.
Named after not just one but two emperors who visited it in years gone by. Czar Alexander I in 1819 and Czar Alexander II in 1869. Apparently the latter visit was the occasion of a very big picnic at its base. Right now this tree which of course is protected 13.4 metres tall but it's the shape which I found most interesting.
