Assaulted by a splash
10 minutes in the North Sea wringer was just the job for today. When I walked up to L's house at 5.30pm I was feeling quite weary. I felt positively sleepy in the car as we drove over there (L is also generous with the in car heating which might have had something to do with it....). One cold water immersion, with three crazy pals, later, I was feeling much more relaxed and much less tired and irritated by the day.
It has been, as is clear from the photo, a much greyer (and colder) day, with some periodic spots of rain and quite a bit more wind than for the last few days, which helps to explain the considerable North Sea swell we enjoyed this evening.
We did indulge in a bit of garden retail therapy, walking up to the garden centre for a few plants to replace the periwinkles, which Mr A has now ripped out of the garden (bar one which is left on the upper level). They did their job in providing instant greenery as other slower growing plants have developed and established themselves. Now, they'd started to irritate us, and needed to be replaced by more attractive options such as dianthus and a small shrub that we hope is going to establish itself in a rather dark and cold corner of the front garden.
Not much weeding today. Still one patch of the side garden to go. I hope to get it finished over the weekend. It's entirely possible, providing the weather holds, as today was my last day of work until Tuesday next week.
